Who doesnt know it, the old story of head waiter Leopold, whos lovesick for the inns owner, Josepha Vogelhuber, and manages to win her love in the end despite his seemingly invincible tenor rival. And yet whos ever seen the original version of this enchanting revue-operetta, which premiered in 1930 at the Metropoltheater in Berlin? Virtually no one, since the original score from the premiere performance, choreographed and staged by Erik Charell, was missing until only recently.
The Dresden State Operetta is the first musical theatre in the world given the opportunity to reconstruct the one-time worldwide hit The White Horse Inn. The company is bringing it back on stage in all of its freshness, with its jazzy, sassy music and its ironic digs at ordinary life, but most of all as a big-time show with infectious dance routines.

The theatre is unique for cultivating the legacy of Johann Strauss.
The State Operettas varied programme of operettas, light operas and musicals focuses on classics such as The Beggar Student, The Csrds Princess and The Land of Smiles, but also The Magic Flute, the swing musical Anything Goes and the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar.
