Renowned for combining Cuban passion with remarkable technical virtuosity, watching Carlos Acosta dance is an inspiring experience. He is joined by guest artists from The Royal Ballet in a programme that combines classical ballet alongside contemporary works.

Carlos Acosta is the greatest ballet dancer of his generation. He is a principal dancer at Covent Garden; Tocororo, the show about his own life, that he wrote, choreographed and starred in, broke box office records at Sadler's Wells; and in his homeland of Cuba he is a national hero. Renowned for combining Cuban passion with a remarkable technical virtuosity and raw athleticism, watching Carlos Acosta dance is a breathtaking experience not to be missed. Carlos Acosta has chosen some of his favourite moments in ballet and brought them together to create one evening of spectacular dance. He draws on his roots, taking works from the Ballet Nacional de Cuba's repertoire such as Tarde en la Fiesta, as well as the ever popular Diana and Acteon, and in an uplifting finale, he will treat the audience to some traditional Cuban moves from the final scene of Tocororo. For this very special programme Carlos will be joined onstage by artists from The Royal Ballet including Mara Galeazzi, Marianela Nu+¦ez and Federico Bonelli amongst others.

The Saint Petersburg ballerina, Irina Kolesnikova is this year celebrating ten years working on stage. Performances dedicated to this event will take place in Saint Petersburg, Paris and London.

"Having graduated from the Academy of Russian Ballet in 1988 Irina Kolesnikova is in her own way a phenomenon in the world of Russian ballet as she is a ballerina of world renown who possesses perfect ballet technique, is an actress of profound emotion yet who does not belong either to the Mariinskiy ballet company or to the constellation of stars which is the Bolshoi Ballet. Kolesnikova dances in the non-state Konstantin Tachkin Saint Petersburg Ballet Theatre. She is loved in the West and not very well known in Russia". These words are taken from Nina Alovert's book "Irina Kolesnikova - already a legend" which is dedicated to Irina Kolesnikova's work and will come out in print in the beginning 2009.

Kolesnikova's history and career really does have a unique character. Irina possesses enormous individuality, sumptuous technique and amazing acting ability.

She has won first prizes in many international competitions and been honoured with several prestigious awards. In 2005 Irina Kolesnikova was nominated by Critic`s Circle of the United Kingdom for an award in the Best Female Dancer category.

The Western press continues to express their delight in her talent. Such national and internationally respected publications as the Times, Independent, Daily Telegraph and Sunday Express in their reviews of Irina Kolesnikova's performances are not embarrassed to use expressions such as: "a world class ballerina", "a star", "a true Diva" when they refer to her.

For several seasons now her performances have played to unchanging full houses at the Royal Albert Hall which has many thousand seats. Moreover, the tickets are completely sold out several weeks before the ballerina even arrives in London.

On 17th May 2009, as part of her first personal European tour Irina will perform for the first time at London's famous Coliseum and will then dance in Paris once more at the legendary Theatre des Champs Elysées in "Swan Lake" and "La Bayadère".

But this will be the beginning of the second decade in the creative destiny of this amazing dancer.

Bill Bailey: Tinselworm stand-up comedy tickets, Gielgud Theatre, London

Following a sell-out arena tour of the UK in 2007 and a sell-out tour of New Zealand and Australia in 2008, Tinselworm returns to the UK for a run at The Gielgud Theatre, London from November 10th 2008 - January 24th 2009, although with (it is assumed) at least some time off for him to spend some time with his nearest and dearest over the primary gifting period and auxiliary generosity zone.

As in any Bill Bailey show, the subject matter is broad ranging; tattoos, marketing, doorbells, Emo, creationism, post-war banking secrecy, travellers' tales and the alternate reality that is Bill's world - spun together with the sparkling thread of a seasonal invertebrate.

It has all the trademark Bailey elements; lyrical dexterity, tangential silliness and musical brilliance plus animation by award-winning film maker, Joe Magee, all of which combine to make this a verbal and visual treat.

This will be the last time you'll be able to see this show before Bill puts it to bed.

Dance or ballet: One of ballet's most famous works with some of its best known music. It is Siegfried's birthday and his mother gives him a crossbow and an ultimatum to get married! After the party and finding himself alone he goes hunting. The evil magician Rothbart (half man half bird) keeps beautiful women as swans on the lake - but by night they resume human form. Siegfried is bewitched by Odette, a Princess and one of the Swans. She explains their plight to Siegfried and says the spell can only be broken by someone who'll love her truly for ever. He swears to do so but Odette returns to being a swan as Rothbart's powers are so strong. Siegfried returns to the palace and his mother presents him with a string of women from whom to chose his bride - Rothbart arrives with his daughter Odile disguised as Odette and Siegfried agrees to marry her - only then realising his mistake as Odile reviles him for breaking his vow to Odette. Siegfried returns to the lake and begs Odette to forgive him - then fights Rothbart whom he kills - and the swans are released from the spell.

“An Evening With Blowers”

BBC Test Match Special commentator Henry Blofeld is undoubtedly the current “voice of cricket” and he continues to be one of the best loved characters in the game.

“Blowers”, as he is affectionately known, is as famous for his musings on pigeons, planes, double decker buses, tea ladies, cakes and his catchphrase ‘My dear old thing’ as he is for his cricket commentary.

His side splitting one man show is a quintessentially British affair in which “Blowers” trawls through his extraordinary life. He was brought up in the idyllic Norfolk countryside amongst a vibrantly eccentric Edwardian household, and later educated at Eton and Cambridge. He dropped out to pursue a brief career in finance, before beginning his chequered career in journalism and later broadcasting.

Along the way he has encountered many hilarious characters, all of whom get a mention – from Noel Coward and Ian Fleming to Nigel Havers and Boris Johnson, all told with his well known self deprecatory humour.
