Florence Tour from Rome
Depart Rome and travel through the beautiful countryside of Latium, Umbria and Tuscany to Florence. Visit the Bargello, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Bell-tower and Baptistery, and the Academy with the beautiful statue of David by Michelangelo. Enjoy lunch at a typical Italian restaurant (included), and then visit Piazza Santa Croce for shopping. The tour continues to Piazzale Michelangelo from where a spectacular view of the Renaissance City can be seen, including the Ponte Vecchio.
Eternal Rome:
We will depart from the bus terminal at Piazza Esquilino and continue on to Republic Square. Here enjoy the Fountain of the Nymphs, a work of Mario Rutelli. Then we will see Via Veneto and the Spanish Steps. The Spanish Steps is the most famous square in Rome with 138 steps and the Fountain of the Barcaccia by Bernini.
We will visit Trevi Fountain (by Nicola Salvi) and the Pantheon. The Pantheon is a real architectonical wonder of the Ancient Rome and was also admired and studied by Michelangelo. Today it is the burial place of Raffaello and a few Italian Kings.
We will visit Navona Square, a traditional baroque square that was once a stadium built by Caesar Domiziano in 92 A.C. Today it is known as the square of artists. View the Four Rivers Fountain (work of Bernini in 17th century) here that dominates the square (it also supports an original Egyptian obelisk.
