Singer, composer, moderator, publicist and lecturer JANA KOUBKOVÁ has been one of the notable personalities of the Czech jazz scene for years.
Somewhat dancing repertoire of not only her own pieces, but also of Brazilian Tania Maria, Maceo Parker, Joe Zawinul, Bobby Mc Ferrin, Jean - Luc Ponty, D.Gillespie, G.Gershwin, Ch Parker, D.Ellington and other musicians.
As it is with the best Prague jazz clubs, USP (U Stare Pani) Jazz Lounge occupies a charming cellar, hidden well away from street level.
USP Jazz Lounge is no dingy basement though. Entrance is via the lobby area of the U Staré Pani hotel. Descend the stairway, lit by small votive candles on both sides, and you enter a brightly decorated, renovated room, positively oozing with ambiance.
Some of Prague's best local jazz acts are in residence here. However, the club is popular and can fill quickly, so arrive early to secure the best seats. In fact, chances are you'll end up sharing a table.
