The legend of Danish ballet, August Bournonville, is one of the most distinctive personalities in the entire history of ballet. He is the author of many unique productions in which he mirrors one of the purest forms of romantic ballet. Thanks to this creative heritage, which has been preserved in its authentic form, we are able to leaf through a textbook on the development of ballet technique. Like Marius Petipa or George Balanchine later, Bournonville became an innovator in his time and created a highly specific classical ballet style. This production consists of a combination of the ballet La Sylphide and the third act of the ballet Napoli. Both works represent the best of Bournonville’s repertoire of original works and it is precisely in this form that they are most frequently performed.

The National Theatre is one of the most important Czech cultural institutions and has a rich artistic tradition, which helped to maintain and develop the Czech language and Czech musical and dramatic arts. The construction of the National Theatre building was financed by contributions from the public and the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone in 1868 became a national event. The theatre's repertoire is based on a rich classical tradition, but also focuses on contemporary domestic authors and draws on modern global trends. The current National Theatre is made up of three artistic companies - opera, drama and ballet.
