Day 2: Broome Town Tour with Cable Beach Sunset (Sunset Nibbles)

Enjoying a full commentary, we begin in Chinatown hearing fascinating stories of this colourful precinct. Whilst here we call into a pearl shop and enjoy a historical sound show at the famous Sun Pictures, the worlds oldest operating open air picture garden (now listed in the Guinness World Records). We take a drive through Old Broome to view typical Broome architecture and old Pearling Masters homes then view the aqua waters of Roebuck Bay at Town Beach and learn of Broomes One Day War.

We then stop at Matsos Broome Brewery to sample their hand made ales and famous ginger beer (complimentary tasting included) or visit one of the local art and craft galleries nearby. Afterwards, visit the Japanese Cemetery and Broome Port, the base for many of todays Pearling vessels. Then travel by Riddell Beach and the Broome Race Course, before taking an easy paced walk at Gantheaume Point known for dinosaur footprints and hear the story of Anastasia's Pool.

We then drive down onto Cable Beach for sunset (subject to beach conditions). Relax and enjoy a stroll, swim or light refreshments (included) as you watch the sun disappear into the horizon.

A drop off to your accommodation is provided or you may like to enjoy a cocktail or dinner at one of the nearby cafes at approximately 6.00 pm.

Day 3: Cape Leveque

Our day journeying along rugged road terrain is broken up with stops to explore cultural and historical aspects of the peninsular, with out first break for morning tea at Beagle Bay Aboriginal Community. View an exquisite Pearl Shell Altar in a church built in 1918 by the Pallotine Monks.

Continuing further north to the coastal wilderness of Cape Leveque, located at the tip of the Dampier Peninsular, we stop to view the stunning Western Beach where the red cliffs meet the ocean (subject to vehicle access). Then we 4WD onto the beach to set up and break for approximately 2 hours for a delicious lunch and free time to swim, relax or walk along this pristine stretch of coastline.

On our afternoon return trip we call into Lombadina Aboriginal Community for afternoon tea. Here we enjoy a guided tour which will provide an insight into community lifestyle today. Subject to availability we also have the opportunity to purchase traditional hand crafted works made from the trochus shell, ebony and pearl shell and view the community church, considered a bush architecture masterpiece. From here we tackle the return trip home arriving in Broome at approximately 8.30pm.

Otherwise, shorten your day by travelling up by 4WD via Beagle Bay then fly directly home to Broome after lunch arriving into Broome early at 5.30 pm (Additional Expense - Tour code: CL4, excludes Lombadina). Flights are subject to minimum numbers.

Day 4: Windjana Gorge & Tunnel Creek

We set off on our journey heading north to Willare Bridge, we cross the mighty Fitzroy River and make a morning tea break at one of the Kimberley's most famous landmarks the Prison Boab Tree, once used to house convicts. Whilst here we also view Myalls Bore; a 120 metre long trough built in the early 1900's used to water up to 1,000 head of cattle at one time. We leave the coast and travel inland along the famous “Gibb River Road”, once used as the main stock route for the region, before turning off to the pre-historic Windjana Gorge, regarded as one of the classic features of world geology and a great freshwater crocodile spotting site.

From here we head to Tunnel Creek, an amazing 750 metre long flooded tube tunnel. We take an exciting walk through the tunnel wading through knee to thigh high water and hear the story of Jandamarra. Following afternoon tea, we set off back to Broome with arrival approximately 10.30 pm after an en route dinner stop (own expense).

Day 5: Geikie Gorge

Setting off from Broome we break en route for morning tea (own expense) before arriving at the township of Fitzroy Crossing. Following a brief town tour we head to nearby Geikie Gorge where we enjoy a picnic lunch. Afterwards we join a memorable 2 hour Darngku Heritage Cruise hosted by local Bunuba Aboriginal Cultural guides (GG1). Our tour includes a boat cruise through Geikie Gorge down the Fitzroy River. On this great tour, your guide demonstrates how to make fire with sticks and provides a fascinating view of Aboriginal culture, Dreamtime stories, bush tucker, animal tracks and cultural practices. (This cruise is operated in boat featuring canopy shading from the sun).

Alternatively join the 1 hour cruise with CALM National Park Authority. Passengers taking this option will have a 1 hour waiting time before boarding which can be filled with a walk down the gorge river bank. (The boats used for this cruise do not feature shade/protection from the sun).
