Sat, 6th December 2008 - Wed, 30th September 2009

Lake Taupo is the southern hemisphere's largest crater lake. A great introductory flight for those wanting to see Taupo's beauty from the air. Showcasing the famous Huka Falls you then fly over the Lake Taupo boat harbour where you can admire the crystal clear water of the Waikato River before returning to the Helistar Flight Centre via the thermal Wairakei Park. The Hub Cafe is owned and operated by Helistar and right next door!
Taupo
South of Rotorua, this region is centred on Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest lake (619sq km), and the township of Taupo in the scenic heart of the North lsland.
One of the few outlets from Lake Taupo is the mighty Waikato River, New Zealand’s longest river, which gushes through a narrow chasm at the Huka Falls.
The Taupo region incorporates the southern part of the thermal belt that extends from White Island in the Bay of Plenty through Rotorua to Tongariro National Park. Hot springs appear in several places around the lake, which is actually a volcanic crater. Just north of Taupo, near the Wairakei International Golf Course, underground steam has been harnessed for electricity generation.
Tour Times
Daily except Christmas Day. Book any day and time. 10 minutes duration.
