Visit the "Crown Jewel of Louisiana's River Road"! Your licensed guide will take you back in time to the antebellum era, a time of glory for Southern plantations. Stroll through 38 acres of lush Louisiana plant life, ancient oak trees, and beautiful ponds and fountains.The magnificent Houmas House Plantation home has been refurbished with period antiques, artwork and furnishings from the 1800’s. By the time of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, the plantation was established and producing sugar.
The Mansion was completed in 1828, and Houmas House continued to increase its land holdings, which ultimately grew to 300,000 acres, becoming the largest sugar producer in the country, actively working the crop on 98,000 acres and earning the name “The Sugar Palace.”
Houmas House has been featured in historic literature and film, such as the novel “North and South” and the film “Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte,” starring Bette Davis. One room in the house is dedicated to Ms. Davis, complete with photos and memorabilia from her filming and stay at the plantation.
You may purchase lunch during the tour (Not included in price). Houmas House does have an elevator to access the second floor. No photography allowed inside the plantation.
Includes guided tour of plantation home and narrated motor coach transportation. Tour departs from the Gray Line “Lighthouse” Ticket Office located at Toulouse Street and the Mississippi River (at the Steamboat Natchez Dock), only 1 block from Jackson Square in the French Quarter.

All daytime tours begin and end at the Gray Line "Lighthouse" ticket office at Toulouse St. and the Mississippi River (at the Steamboat Natchez Dock), just one block from Jackson Square in the French Quarter.
Evening tours depart from the Gray Line Information Desk located on the ground floor of the Jax Brewery, inside the Toulouse Street entrance.
Please arrive at the departure location at least 15 minutes prior to the tour departure time.
