On this tour, we'll see many of the monuments of Rome including Republic Square, Piazza Venezia, Victor Emannuel II Bridge, Tiber River and Castel S.Angelo.
After departure we will see the Piazza dell'Esquilino, the Republic Square (designed bye Gaetano Kock), the Fountain of Mario Rutelli, Via Venato (built in the 19th century), Borghese Gardenia, Piazza del Popolo (a Giuseppe Valadier masterpiece), the river Tiber and Elio´s bridge which dates back to 134 A.D.
Next we will visit Castel S.Angelo (the inside of it). This massive fortress takes its name from the vision that Pope Gregory the Great had of the Archangel Michael on the site. It was originally built in 139 A.D. as Emperor Hadrian´s Mausoleum. Since that time it has had many roles including being a part of Emperor Aurelian´s city wall, a medieval citadel and a prison. It was also once the residence of Popes in times of political unrest.
Our excursion will end in St. Peter's Square for the Papal Blessing. Subject to Vatican schedule.
