The Brothers Size
The Peacock Theatre
Dublin
Ireland
Tue, 20th May 2008 - Sat, 14th June 2008
IRISH PREMIERE
A production of the Foundry Theatre in association with the Public Theater (New York)
The Abbey Theatre is delighted to present The Brothers Size by Tarell Alvin McCraney, one of America's most thrilling new writers.
Playing fast and loose with West African myths, The Brothers Size brings contemporary rhythms together with ceremonial traditions to tell the modern-day story of the Size brothers - Ogun, an auto mechanic, and Oshoosi, a recent parolee. In this fresh new drama, the audience is at once the community, the witness and the judge.
This Foundry Theatre production was the hit of the Public Theatre's prestigious Under The Radar Festival in New York in 2007.
The Brothers Size is a provocative, joyous and heart-breaking tale of what it means to be a brother and a man.
'Listen closely, and you might hear that thrilling sound that is one of the main reasons we go to the theater, the beautiful music of a new voice.'
