The Fort Lauderdale Historical Society's Museum of History and the King-Cromartie House Museum - Fort Lauderdale's history traces back 5,000 years ago with the prehistoric "Glades Culture." Explore the area's largest collection of early twentieth century buildings and discover Fort Lauderdale's not-so-ordinary past. Preserved and presented by the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, this unique architectural collection and museum is located at the cross roads of the New River and Flagler's East Coast Railway.

Begin your tour at the New River Inn. Docent Tours available at the King-Cromartie House Museum, Tuesday through Saturday, 10AM till 4:45PM and Sunday, Noon to 4:45PM. Call in advance for Docent Tours and holiday hours.

Bonnet House Museum & Gardens - Step into nineteen-twenties whimsy created by American artist Frederic Clay Bartlett and his family. Sitting on the Atlantic Ocean, the house, art studio and 35-acres of subtropical grounds showcases this eccentric clans' collections including exotic shells and more than 3,000 brilliant orchids displayed along with antiques, whimsical artwork and tropical fruit groves. You may even spy monkeys and foxes scampering across the grounds.

Stranahan House - The City of Fort Lauderdale began right in this spot, built originally in 1901 as a trading post used by settlers and Seminole Indians. These walls talk and tell tales about the building's history as a post office, bank, town hall, dance hall, restaurant and residence for Frank and Ivy Stranahan. The historic structure acts as a bridge between Fort Lauderdale's historic and cultural districts. Docent tours are available to make it all come to life.
