Mumbai is a cluster of seven islands and derives its name from Mumbadevi, the patron goddess of the koli fisher folk, its oldest inhabitants. Mumbai pulsates with activity. It is a city that is disciplined by no time frame neither day nor night. Mumbai is also the country´s financial powerhouse, the nation´s industrial heartland, and its economic nerve center. Mumbai houses dazzling shopping arcades, exciting sport activities, night clubs & discotheques, theater & music, gourmet restaurants and interesting sightseeing. Mumbai offers visitors a heady mix of all this and more.

The harbour and wide bay between the city and its mainland has allowed Mumbai to be a natural shipping and trading centre.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus:(formerly Victoria Terminus)is a historic railway station of the Mumbai suburban railway, as well as for some long-distance trains. It serves as the headquarters of the Central Railways in India and is one of the busiest railway stations in India.

Asiatic Library: The town hall, which houses the Asiatic Library is perhaps the most elegant heritage building in Mumbai. It has a collection of 800,000 antique volumes, and ancient coins.

Gateway of India: Built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to India in 1911, in the 16th century architectural style of Gujarat.

Prince of Wales Museum: The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum, Mumbai. The museum houses rare and ancient exhibits of Indian history as well as objects from foreign lands. It has also Indus Valley Civilization artifacts, relics from ancient India from the time of the Guptas and examples of Mauryan art.

  • A collection of Pablo Picasso´s works
  • Egyptian artifacts such as mummies, statues, etc.

  • Mumbai High Court: The Bombay High Court was inaugurated on August 14, 1862. The work on the present building of the High Court was commenced in April 1871 and completed in November 1878.

Raja Bai Tower: Situated at the gardens of Mumbai university building, the Raja Bai Clock tower rises above the portion of the library section.

Marine Drive: One of Mumbai´s most popular romantic spot and sunset view is amazing. Tourist brochures are fond of stating it as the Queen´s Necklace, because of the dramatic curve of its streetlights at night.

Chowpatty Beach: Chowpatty is a taste of the Bombay bazaar and mela (festival, or hullabaloo) rolled into one. A hundred species of salesmen throng the beach in the evening, especially Sunday, selling everything from glow-in- the-dark yo-yos and animal-shaped balloons to rat poison.

Hanging Garden: Amidst the concrete and congestion of Mumbai lie its lungs, its islands of greenery.

Kamla Nehru Park: Situated on the slopes of Malabar Hill, it is mainly a children´s park named after the wife of India´s first Prime Minister. Laid in 1952, the garden offers a panoramic view of Marine Drive and Chowpatty Beach.

Haji Alis Mosque: Situated in the Arabian Sea, this mosque containing the tomb of the Muslim saint Haji Ali is a worth visiting place in Mumbai.
