We suggest you start your day in Versailles with a guided morning visit of the Royal Apartments. This will be followed by a walk around the Palace’s park, passing through some of the “Groves” (summer) or a horse carriage ride (winter).

Freetime for lunch.

The afternoon will continue with a guided visit of the Trianon (vast mansion-style lodges where Louis XV and Louis XVI liked to work and retire from court life) and a discovery tour of Queen’s hamlet (where from 1783 Marie Antoinette played as a shepherdess). Entrance tickets included.

Some history:
• Louis XIII’s hunting lodge was converted and enlarged by his son Louis XIV
into the seat of the court and the government of France from 1682.
• New apartments were added to the Château in the 18th century under
orders of Louis XV and Louis XVI.
• The royal family was forced to abandon Versailles on October 6, 1789 after
the fi rst days of the French Revolution.
• In 1837, the king Louis-Philippe inaugurated in the Château the Museum
devoted to « all the glories of France ».
