THE HISTORY
The Barossa Valley is South Australia's best known wine region and home to the largest wine companies in Australia. The landscape is interwoven with the unmistakable presence of rich Germanic/Silesian culture and heritage, which has made the region so special.

THE TOUR
At 9:00am you will begin a personally escorted journey that includes a city orientation tour. You travel through the scenic Torrens Gorge to the Barossa Valley. The Torrens Gorge is a natural chasm carved out of the Adelaide Hills by the River Torrens. If time permits we may stop at a local bakery to taste the best of the fine German pastries. We travel over the Jacobs Creek for our first tasting of the fine wines at the Peter Lehmann winery.

We visit Torbreck wine cellars, a small winery with rustic charm, making wines in traditional Barossa methods. We will also include visits to other small wineries and meet well-known wine identities.

We stop for a stroll in the German town of Tanunda with time to discover the small shops, many of which specialise in crafts made by the locals.

Before lunch we take the picturesque drive up to Menglers Hill for an unsurpassed view over the entire Valley. We continue into historic Angaston - the more English of the villages in the Barossa. Taking time to Angas park specializing in fine dried fruits or the local cheesemaker.

Lunch will be alfresco under the vines or at Vintners restaurant just out of Angaston.

Our next stop may be Henschkes winery in Keyneton. This fifth generation German winery produces outstanding wines that incorporate the best of old world and state of the art winemaking or historic Yalumba the biggest family run winery in Australia.

This is an exclusive opportunity to visit such special places - to see the wonderful scenery, taste the wines, tempt your palate with some of the State's finest gourmet restaurants and simply indulge in all the things which make South Australia great.

Includes: Experienced wine tour guide/driver*, wine & tourism information kit, pre & post-tour assistance, wine tastings, refreshments en-route & gourmet lunch

Important: Please note that this tour needs a minimum of 2 passengers to guarantee departure.

*Our guides are trained in wine and tourism with background training at Roseworthy Agricultural College and from within the Wine Industry.

From the beautiful and spectacular coastline to the majestic peaks and simmering deserts of the Flinders Ranges and the Outback, South Australia is full of wonder. But beyond the hospitality of its friendly people, there is another special ingredient, which makes up the essence of South Australia. It's wines.

South Australia is the Wine State and for generations its people have been bottling the gift of the world famous Barossa Valley, fertile Clare Valley, the lush cool Adelaide Hills, the picturesque McLaren Vale and the rich recesses of the Coonawarra in the South East.
