Day 1: Cape Town (Breakfast)

Welcome to Cape Town – South Africa’s mother city! After arrival, you have the afternoon to start exploring this vibrant city. Take a ride up our famous Table Mountain, or stare a ragged tooth shark in the eye at the Two Oceans Aquarium. Visit historic Robben Island or wander down lively Long Street. The options are limitless!

Make use of the Cape Town Explorer pass included in this package. This pass entitles us to a day on Cape Town’s “Hop On, Hop Off” open topped double-decker bus. We are able to get on or off the bus at any of the stops on the route from the V & A Waterfront, the City Centre, Table Mountain and Camps Bay. Stare a ragged tooth shark in the eye at the Two Oceans Aquarium, learn about “forced removals” at the District 6 Museum, visit South Africa’s oldest building - the Castle of Good Hope, rich in history of the first settlers, look out over Cape Town from the top of Table Mountain and enjoy one of Cape Town’s most beautiful beaches, Camps Bay.

Health Tips

Inoculations If you're an adult, you won't need any inoculations unless you're travelling from a yellow-fever endemic area (the yellow fever belt of Africa or South America), in which case you will need certification to prove your inoculation status when you arrive in South Africa. It is recommended that you have the required inoculations four to six weeks before you travel to South Africa (a yellow fever inoculation certificate only becomes valid 10 days after inoculation - after which it remains valid for 10 years). Hepatitis B inoculations are recommended for children up to the age of 12 who have not completed the series of injections as infants. Booster doses for tetanus and measles can also be administered. Medical facilities Medical facilities in cities and larger towns are world-class, but you will find that in rural areas the clinics and hospitals deal with primary health needs, and therefore do not offer the range of medical care that the large metropolitan hospitals do. Trained medical caregivers are deployed round the country, so help is never far away.
