The Viking Horse Riding Tour and the Blue Lagoon
Gray Line Iceland
Reykjavik
Iceland
Wed, 9th July 2008 - Wed, 31st December 2008
This combination of tours “Viking Horse Riding Tour” and Gulfoss and Geysir Express is for those who are short on time but still want to make the most of the time they have. Make your dreams come true by acquainting yourself with the Icelandic horse. This breed has remained virtually unchanged since the Vikings brought it to Iceland in the 8th century.
The Icelandic horse is small but sure-footed, docile, enduring and extremely strong. Enjoy a 1 1/2 hour riding tour across the outskirts of the capital while getting to know your horse who has managed to serve the natives for centuries in the harsh landscape of Iceland.
After your riding experience, enjoy a lunch break before heading to the Þingvellir National Park with its unique geological features, natural beauty and historical importance. At Þingvellir, the Icelandic parliament Alþingi was founded in 930 AD, making it the oldest known functioning parliament in the world.
Next, we’ll visit the impressive Gullfoss waterfall and the geothermal area around Geysir with its spouting hot springs. This tour takes us through fertile agricultural areas including a photo stop at the colorful volcanic crater Kerið.
We’ll also visit Hveragerði, a greenhouse community where geothermal energy has been harnessed to grow fruits, vegetables and beautiful flowers in greenhouses. Finally, the capital is just a short drive away.
We reserve the right to alter or change the itinerary according to weather and road conditions.
Tour Departure/Pick Up: Free pick up at your hotel or guesthouse in the Reykjavik area 60 min prior to tour departure.
