High Dam-Temple of Philae Island
Sun East Tours
Aswan
Egypt
Fri, 5th December 2008 - Thu, 30th April 2009

Excursion drive to the High Dam. Although it was constructed several millennia after the majority of Egypt’s iconic landmarks, the High Dam is equally as impressive. A miracle of modern engineering, the dam is 364 feet high and spans for over two miles and contains eighteen times the material used to build the Great Pyramid of Cheops.
After this visit, we will then proceed to the Granite Quarries, the unfinished Obelisks, and Old Aswan Dam for a motor – boat excursion to the Temple of Philae Island. Dismantled and reassembled on higher ground after the completion of the Aswan High Dam threatened its existence, the temple is dedicated to the goddess Isis and is set on its own island. The temple is widely regarded as the prettiest in Egypt.
In most temples and museums in Egypt, an additional fee for photo and video cameras is requested. In general you can expect approximately 5 - 10 Egyptian Pounds for photo cameras, and approximately 100 Egyptian Pounds for video cameras.
A sunhat, sunglasses, sunscreen and a bottle of water are recommended.
Please note that this tour includes:
- Travel in an air-conditioned bus
- Multilingual expert Egyptologist guide
