That’s entertainment! – A celebration of the MGM Musical John Wilson Conductor – John Wilson Orchestra With Singers; Matthew Ford, Rachel Weston and Gary Williams Celebrated British conductor and arranger John Wilson will lead an all star tribute to the Golden era of Hollywood film musicals at The Shaw Theatre. The sumptuous sounds of the MGM orchestra will be revived by John Wilson who will pay tribute to, among others, composers George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Harry Warren, Jerome Kern and Richard Rogers and the great Hollywood arrangers Conrad Salinger, Johnny Green and Nelson Riddle. That’s entertainment! Will feature some of Hollywood’s best loved music from the MGM musicals ‘High Society’, ‘Singin in the Rain’, ‘An American in Paris’, ‘Ziegfeld Follies’, ‘Meet me in St Louis’, It’s Always Fair Weather’ and ‘The Wizard of Oz’ to name a few. Much of this music will be heard in the concert hall for the first time in its original version in scores newly reconstructed by John Wilson John Wilson will be joined by guest singers paying special tributes to original stars of the MGM musical pictures, Judy Garland, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly and others, all accompanied by John Wilson’s own all star Orchestra. From the brash genius of the Broadway musical, to Van Morrison's dynamic fusion of Celtic and contemporary music, to Harry Connick Jr's inimitable New Orleans' jazz. Sundays at the Shaw are home to some of London's finest classical musicians in the intimate and immediate setting which is the Shaw Theatre. The Shaw Theatre continues its outreach into the community in association with its producers, ensuring that a new generation of theatre goers have the opportunity to share the unforgettable experience of live theatre, opera and ballet. The theatre is now fully refurbished with 446 comfortable seats, all commanding an excellent view of the stage. It has two large foyers, six large dressing rooms for up to 60 people and extensive high quality backstage facilities which include a props store, workshop space and laundry facilities. For members of the public there is disabled access, excellent cloakroom facilities and a large bar serving drinks and refreshments. The two capacious foyers make ideal exhibition spaces. LocationThe theatre is located beside the British Library, and soon to be refurbished St Pancras Station Hotel, equidistant from King's Cross and Euston Stations, which makes it one of the most accessible in London. The major redevelopments in the area, which includes the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, makes this a flourishing location.
