Explaining Middleware
More About TicketSwitch
TicketSwitch Middleware has been developed solely with the purpose of delivering ticket inventory and content to a variety of distribution channels in real-time, giving customers’ access to true last seat availability. Through the use of software ‘adaptors’ Middleware can communicate with any ticketing system API (application programming interface). The delivery medium can be completely white-labelled to provide a branded buy process.
TECHNOLOGY
TicketSwitch Middleware is constructed using a combination of lightweight yet extremely powerful technologies and software platforms.
We use:
- FreeBSD, a UNIX variant operating system with a strong focus on security, performance and stability.
- Our software is written in Objective-C and compiled to run under Apache web server software.
- We use MySQL as our database storage engine.
Middleware supports a variety of distribution technologies allowing customers to purchase tickets via their web browser, satellite or cable television and mobile phone. Middleware can also integrate with onward distribution networks using our XML API. The Middleware XML interface allows 3rd parties to connect to Middleware with their own distribution engines.
TicketSwitch Middleware delivers customer bookings directly to the supplier ticketing system in real-time, avoiding the need for allocations and mark backs. The supplier ticketing system handles card payments, customer relations and dispatch in the same manner as a booking made by an operator.
Middleware supports shopping baskets, recommendations (the ability to up-sell other products to the customer), multiple search criteria (search by country, city, airport, date, category and event or venue name) and a host of other ecommerce standard functions. TicketSwitch Content Management is used to enhance ticket inventory with extra event information including images, maps and audio and video clips.
