Musical by Marc Schubring (music)

Based on the film of the same name by Hans Albers and Heinz Rhmann

Just imagine: Due to a certain resemblance, two not particularly successful detectives are regularly mistaken for master detective Sherlock Holmes and his assistant Dr. Watson, despite their vehement denials. And yet disguised as such, they nonetheless succeed in breaking up a gang of forgers

The Man Who Was Sherlock Holmes was inspired by a classic of German cinema: the Ufa criminal comedy of the same name starring Hans Albers and Heinz Rhmann.

Composer Marc Schubring and songwriter Wolfgang Adenberg, whose family musical Emil and the Detectives premiered at the State Operetta in October 2005 to considerable acclaim, have now taken the story of Sherlock Holmes and turned it into a musical. The swinging show, evoking the lifestyle and music of the 1930s, is receiving its world premiere in Dresden.
